AFRIYEA Golf Academy has been awarded a significant development grant from The R&A, the world governing body for golf, to support its grassroots golf programs in the Tooro region of Uganda. The grant, part of The R&A's global development initiative, will enable the academy to expand its reach and enhance the quality of its training programs.
The funding will be used to purchase new equipment for junior golfers, develop training materials for coaches, support the academy's school golf outreach program, and establish a structured competition calendar for young players. The grant will also support the academy's environmental initiatives, including tree planting and community clean-up campaigns.
"We are deeply grateful to The R&A for their continued support," said Isaiah Mwesige. "This grant will make a tangible difference in the lives of hundreds of young people in Fort Portal. It will give them access to proper equipment, quality coaching, and competitive opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach."
