George Kituku's journey in golf is a testament to persistence, passion, and the transformative power of sport. As one of the senior coaches at AFRIYEA Golf Academy, Kituku brings decades of experience and a deep understanding of the game to his role as a mentor and instructor.
Kituku began playing golf as a young boy in Mbarara, where he learned the game from his father, a former club champion. "Golf was always part of our family life," he recalls. "Weekends were spent at the golf course, and some of my earliest memories involve the smell of freshly cut grass and the sound of clubs striking balls."
After representing his school and club at various national events, Kituku pursued professional coaching qualifications through the PGA of Uganda and international certification programs. His coaching career spans over 15 years, during which he has trained hundreds of junior and amateur golfers across Uganda.
At AFRIYEA Golf Academy, Kituku leads the advanced training program, working with talented juniors who aspire to compete at national and international levels. His approach combines technical precision with strategic thinking, helping students develop a complete game that can withstand the pressures of competitive play.
"Golf is a game of patience and strategy," Kituku often tells his students. "You cannot rush progress. Every round teaches you something about yourself. My job is to help you understand those lessons and use them to become not just a better golfer, but a better person."
Beyond the technical instruction, Kituku is known for his emphasis on the etiquette and traditions of golf. He teaches his students to respect the course, their playing partners, and the rules of the game, instilling values that extend far beyond the fairways.
Kituku's legacy at AFRIYEA is already evident in the success of his students, many of whom have gone on to win junior tournaments and represent their schools and regions. As he continues to shape the next generation of Ugandan golfers, his story serves as an inspiration to coaches and players alike.
