The Tooro Kingdom Inter-Clans Golf Championship returned for its second edition, bringing together representatives from the kingdom's traditional clans for a day of friendly competition and cultural celebration at Toro Golf Club. The event, organized in partnership with AFRIYEA Golf Academy and the Tooro Kingdom cultural institution, has quickly become one of the most anticipated golf events on the regional calendar.
Twelve clans fielded teams of four players each, competing in a stableford format that combined individual and team scores. The championship was more than just a golf tournament; it was a celebration of Tooro's rich cultural heritage, with participants wearing clan colors and traditional regalia.
"The Inter-Clans Championship is a beautiful fusion of sport and culture," said Isaiah Mwesige. "It brings together people who share a common heritage and gives them a platform to connect, compete, and celebrate what makes Tooro special. Golf becomes the bridge that unites us."
The Batuku clan emerged victorious, posting the best combined team score, while individual honors went to players from the Basita and Babiito clans. The tournament also featured a junior exhibition match, showcasing the talent being developed through AFRIYEA's programs.
Plans for the 2026 edition are already in motion, with organizers hoping to expand participation to include diaspora communities and invite clans from neighboring kingdoms to participate in a special exhibition.
