The Junior Golf League Grand Finale brought the season to a thrilling conclusion at Toro Golf Club, with young golfers from across the Tooro region competing for top honors in a showcase of emerging talent. The league, organized by AFRIYEA Golf Academy, provided a structured competitive platform for junior golfers throughout the season.
The finale featured the top 40 juniors who had qualified through a series of monthly tournaments held between September 2024 and January 2025. Points accumulated over the season determined the starting positions, and the pressure was high as players vied for the championship titles in three age categories.
"The Junior Golf League has been instrumental in developing competitive skills among our young players," said Isaiah Mwesige. "Regular tournament experience teaches them how to manage pressure, strategize under different course conditions, and maintain focus throughout a round — skills that are essential for success at higher levels of the game."
Samuel Kato, a 14-year-old from Toro Parents Education Centre, emerged as the overall winner in the Under-18 category, posting a remarkable score over 18 holes that included three birdies. Grace Atuhaire won the girls' division, demonstrating composure beyond her years.
The Junior Golf League will return for another season, with organizers planning to expand participation to include juniors from neighboring districts. Registration is open to all junior golfers aged 6 to 18, regardless of skill level.
