AFRIYEA Golf Academy hosted a comprehensive Golf Coach Training Workshop in partnership with the Uganda Golf Union and The R&A, bringing together 25 coaches from across Uganda for a week of intensive training and professional development. The workshop aimed to elevate the standard of golf coaching in the country and ensure that young golfers receive instruction that meets international standards.
The training program covered a wide range of topics, including modern coaching methodologies, player development pathways, sports psychology, physical conditioning for golfers, and the use of technology in coaching. Participants also received practical training on course management, rules officiating, and tournament organization.
"The quality of coaching is the single most important factor in the development of young golfers," said Dr. Jackson Were, President of the Uganda Golf Union. "This workshop represents our commitment to ensuring that Ugandan coaches have access to the best training and resources available."
Coaches who completed the workshop received certification recognized by the Uganda Golf Union and The R&A. The workshop also served as a networking platform, allowing coaches from different regions to share experiences, best practices, and ideas for growing the game in their communities.
AFRIYEA Golf Academy plans to host similar workshops on a regular basis, with advanced modules planned for later in the year. The academy also offers mentorship support for newly certified coaches, helping them apply their training effectively in the field.
