Trust-Aurora Golf Balls Donates Equipment to Uganda’s Afriyea Golf Academy
Fort Portal, Uganda

Grassroots golf development in Uganda has received a major boost with Trust-Aurora Golf Balls donating several boxes of premium Aurora golf balls to the Afriyea Golf Academy. The donation aims to support the academy’s mission of nurturing young talent while addressing the persistent challenges of accessing quality golf equipment in the region.

Although Uganda’s golfing history dates back to 1901, the sport faces numerous hurdles, including limited financial support and resources. The country has only 18 golf courses many of which are nine-hole layouts and access to equipment remains a significant obstacle to fostering talent.

Founded in 2020 at the Toro Club in Fort Portal, the Afriyea Golf Academy is committed to developing the game from the grassroots level. Through school and community programs, as well as junior golf championships, the academy provides children with opportunities to hone their skills, develop discipline, and test their competitive abilities.

A Timely Boost for Junior Golf The donation of Aurora golf balls comes at a pivotal time as the academy prepares for its 2025 school golf programs. The contribution was facilitated by Trust-Aurora Golf Balls’ ambassador, Martin Medingdorfer, based in Germany. “As Trust-Aurora Golf Balls, we are proud to support the Afriyea Golf Academy in its mission to inspire the next generation of golfers,” said Medingdorfer. “The academy’s commitment to providing access to golf for children from all backgrounds and promoting environmental sustainability perfectly aligns with our values. We look forward to a growing partnership and to seeing these young players become stars of the game.” “This donation is a huge relief for us. These high-quality balls not only improve our training sessions but also ease the burden of getting the golf balls for children to use for their training and during the competitions. We are incredibly grateful to Trust-Aurora and hope this partnership will grow from strength to strength,” said Isaiah Mwesige. Voices from the Academy The excitement among the children and coaches at the academy is palpable. 8-year-old Fahad Muhammad couldn’t hide his joy: “I feel so lucky to have these new golf balls They are so nice to play with, and I know they will help me improve. I want  to practice more so that one day I can compete in big tournaments,” Fahad said.
Eleven-year-old Alicia Delta Karungi shared a similar sentiment. “These balls are amazing! They make me feel like a professional golfer. I’m going to work harder so I can make my family and Uganda proud,” Alicia said.

The coaches at the academy highlighted the impact of the donation on their training programs. Coach George Kituku the academ’ys assistant head coach said, “Equipment shortages have been one of our biggest challenges, and this donation has come at the perfect time. These balls will allow our students to practice more effectively and develop their skills faster.” A Brighter Path Forward
The Afriyea Golf Academy has become a trailblazer in developing golf among underprivileged communities in Uganda. By combining sports development with values like environmental sustainability and community engagement, the academy is shaping the future of Ugandan golf.

This donation from Trust-Aurora Golf Balls represents a significant milestone in the academy’s journey. With continued support from global brands and ambassadors like Martin Medingdorfer, Afriyea Golf Academy is well-positioned to nurture the next generation of golfing talent and make Uganda a prominent name in the world of golf.
