The Academy For Education
STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The majority of the youth and children in Uganda and Africa lack contemporary ‘STEM’ skills to make them competitive in the job market. In addition to inadequate technical STEM skills, the lack of self-drive, enthusiasm, motivation, teamwork, communication and reporting are far more concerning. To bridge the skills gap in STEM, AFRIYEA Golf Academy designed areas to enable the young people to get quality education and life skills

Computer Science
The academy in accordance with its partners supports a hands-on coding and product design boot camp that aims to build self-confidence among the youth and children as change agents and technology innovators in their communities while giving them relevant skills to enable them build technology businesses in the future as well as work in a tech environment.
With this innovation, the academy welcomes more supportive and interested partners to boost this initiative.
The program involves introduction to Microsoft packages such as MS Word, Power point and excel and introductory programming in Java, HTML and Scratch.
- To instill moral tech ethics or hacks in junior golfers to enable them prosper in a technology environment
- To develop intangible STEM skills such as teamwork, design thinking and collaboration.
- To help young people use computer science to recognize human challenges and seek solutions through computer programs and simulations.
- Teach crucial skills of online research and data gathering and evaluation.
The target audience is girls and boys aged 4-22 years both in and out of school. The group receives curated trainings during bootcamps or subscribe to a 3 – month training by our STEM partners in their respective schools of study.
Girls in STEM
In Uganda, girls are particularly under-represented in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. There is low enrollment, poor performance, and high numbers of dropouts. In 2014, a government report revealed a severe drop between 2009 and 2014 in the percentage of girls passing biology and mathematics examinations. This gender gap reduces the number of women who pursue STEM careers. UNESCO notes that currently less than a third of science researchers in Uganda are women. To bridge this gap, the academy has prioritized girls so that they can gain confidence and lead the change.
Girls Mentoring Committee
This committee provides monthly activities for growth of character in STEM, life skills, networking and the game of golf through small group mentorship experiences between adult volunteers and academy girl’s members. This promotes leadership confidence amongst girls.
Girl Ambassadors
The girl ambassadors inspire other young girls into falling in love with science and technology. The ambassadors are invited to guest lectures, career days, and assemblies to inspire fellow girls into the fields of STEM.
Education scholarships
AFRIYEA is committed to ensuring formal and beneficial education to its junior golfers from the vulnerable communities. This commitment is exemplified in our commitment to find education scholarships in primary, high schools and universities.
Individuals and corporations are invited to contribute towards the scholarship fund to assist us in providing as many opportunities as possible to deserving youth and under aged children.

Sponsor a kid for a term
The cost for sponsoring a child is $25 a month. This approximates to $100 per term inclusive of other miscellaneous expenses and there are 3 school terms per year in the Ugandan education system. We currently have a few children under our support who desperately want to have a chance and attain basic education. Our target is to at least have 500 children under our support by 2026 and we cannot attain this number without you. An investment in knowledge pays the best interest, every single investment made secures a future.
